Contributor agreement

Contributor Licence

Version dated August 20, 2026

Plain-language summary

You keep the copyright in work you upload. You give Lesson Buddy a lasting licence to store, use, adapt, distribute, and include the resource in both free and paid offerings. Only upload material you have authority to share, and never upload student personal information.

1. Agreement

These Contributor Licence terms apply each time you upload a file or other material to Lesson Buddy. By checking the Contributor Licence box and submitting an upload, you confirm that you have read and agree to these terms for that resource.

2. Your authority to contribute

You represent and warrant that you created the resource or otherwise have every permission needed to upload it and grant the rights described here. This includes permission from co-authors, employers, schools, school authorities, publishers, and any other rights holders where applicable.

Do not upload curriculum materials, textbook pages, purchased resources, images, trademarks, or other content owned by someone else unless you have explicit permission or a lawful right to include and license that material.

3. Licence granted to Lesson Buddy

You retain ownership of your copyright. You grant Lesson Buddy and its successors and assigns a perpetual, worldwide, irrevocable to the fullest extent permitted by law, non-exclusive, royalty-free, fully paid, transferable and sublicensable licence to:

  • host, store, cache, reproduce, publish, distribute, transmit, display, perform, and make the resource available;
  • edit, format, translate, excerpt, combine, annotate, adapt, and create derivative works from the resource;
  • promote the resource and Lesson Buddy using the resource, its title, description, previews, and contributor display name;
  • include the resource in current or future Lesson Buddy products and services, including subscriptions, school licences, bundles, and other free or paid offerings; and
  • authorize service providers, partners, customers, schools, educators, and end users to exercise these rights as needed to operate and use Lesson Buddy.

This licence continues even if you stop using Lesson Buddy or ask for the resource to be removed. Lesson Buddy may choose to remove or stop distributing a resource but is not required to give up the rights already granted.

4. Moral rights

To the extent permitted by law, you waive and agree not to enforce moral rights in the resource against Lesson Buddy or anyone authorized by Lesson Buddy. Where a waiver is not legally effective, you consent to the editing, adaptation, combination, presentation, and uses described in this agreement.

5. Public access and future paid services

Lesson Buddy currently makes published resources available without a download paywall. You understand that Lesson Buddy may later introduce subscriptions, school plans, paid bundles, advertising, sponsorship, or other commercial models. The licence in section 3 allows uploaded resources to remain in and support those services without an additional payment or approval.

6. No student or confidential information

You must not upload student names, photographs, grades, identification numbers, contact information, individualized education information, medical details, or any other personal, confidential, or identifying information. You are responsible for fully removing this information before uploading.

7. Contributor information

Your display name and optional school or district may appear publicly with the resource. Your contact email is collected privately so Lesson Buddy can contact you about ownership, moderation, safety, or operation of the resource library. It is not displayed with the resource.

8. Moderation and removal

Lesson Buddy may review, refuse, restrict, remove, restore, or reclassify any resource at any time. It may also preserve records needed to address rights, safety, legal, or operational concerns. Immediate publication does not mean Lesson Buddy has reviewed or endorsed a resource.

9. No guaranteed payment or availability

Unless Lesson Buddy agrees otherwise in a separate written agreement, uploading a resource does not create a right to compensation, royalties, revenue sharing, attribution in every use, or continued availability of the resource or service.

10. Responsibility for classroom use

Resources are contributed by community members and may contain errors. Teachers, schools, and other users are responsible for reviewing every resource for accuracy, accessibility, safety, suitability, and alignment with the current official Alberta curriculum before using it.

Ready to share?

Return to the library and use “Share a resource.” You will be asked to confirm these terms with every upload.
